Critique: Everything Wrong with Hobbit

This is going to start a flamewar. Suggested topics of argument:
  • Which “sins” are due to the source material and which are Peter Jackson’s?

  • Are these actually sins or did they just not “get it?”

  • Will any of these be corrected or edited out for the eventual 100-disc DVD set complete with replicas of the One Ring, the Black Arrow, and Sting (the blade, not the pop star) which glows blue whenever batteries are present in the hilt?

Trailer: Hugo

Hugo tells the story of an orphan boy living a secret life in the walls of a Paris train station. With the help of an eccentric girl, he searches for the answer to a mystery linking the father he recently lost, the ill-tempered toy shop owner living below him and a heart shaped lock, seemingly without a key.
