Video Games: Mass Effect 3 Extended Ending

The new Mass Effect 3 extended ending DLC is available starting today, and there’s a new ending (above) on top of the three other very disappointing ones. It's still not what we might have hoped for, but at least it adds a poetic not of pathos to the story's end.

Trailer: DREDD 3D

Dredd is a 3D remake of the Sylvester Stallone train wreck Judge Dredd This time Karl Urban (Star Trek) takes on the lead role of Judge Dredd.  The trailer doesn't make this new movie look a whole lot better than the original, but at least it doesn't star Rob Schneider.  The film opens in 3D September 21st.
The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called "Judges" who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge – a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of "Slo-Mo" experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed.

During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture- a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan's inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound's control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.

Plus, there's no chorus of children singing gibberish, which makes it a significant improvement over previous teasers.

"The Dark Knight Rises" starring Christian Bale hits theaters July 20. "The Dark Knight Rises" is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy.

Featurette: Thus Spoke Zaeathustra

Patient moviegoers noticed that at the very end of the end credits for Prometheus, a logo for the fictional Weyland Corporation rolled onto the screen, with the tagline “Building Better Worlds Since 10. 11. 12″ and an address for the “corporate timeline” for Weyland Industries. It turns out that the Easter egg ultimately points Whatis101112.com, a bizarre little site that seems to imply that Weyland may have been a devotee of German philosopher Freidrich Nietzsche, author of Thus Spoke Zarathustra: A Book for All and None.
